Korean 10-Step Skincare Routine And How To Do A Shorter Version

What is the Korean 10-step skincare routine?

The Korean 10-step skincare routine is a  lifestyle made by native Koreans to achieve healthy glowing skin. Its system involves 10 differ steps of 10 differ skincare products to help clean and moisturize your skin. An oil cleanser , foam/cream cleanser, an exfoliate, toner, an essence, and emulsion, ampoule/serum, sheet mask, an eye cream and moisturizer, and finally applying sunscreen for skin protection.

Step 1 and 2: Double Cleansing

This part is actually broken into two different face washes, the oil cleanser first than a foam/cream cleanser for the second cleanse of your face. The first Cleansing the oil base is used to remove oil-based makeup, SPF, and other impurities.

The second cleanser should be water-based and will use this type of cleanser to remove any remaining residue and clean the skin deep into the pores to unclog them more effectively. You will need to find a cleanser that is gentle so you won’t strip or dry out your skin.

Step 3: Exfoliation

As a rule of thumb in any skincare regimen you should be exfoliating at least twice a week no more. Exfoliation involves the chemical, granular substance, or an exfoliation tool to remove dead cells from your skin surface. Thus producing the more healthy glowing skin underneath the dull dead skin cells.

Step 4: Toner

This beauty product is designed to add moisture and hydration but most importantly balance out your skin’s pH level after the cleansing steps.

Step 5:  Essence

The fifth step is also just another hydration product for your skin. Their goal is to moisturize the skin and make the most of the serums that will follow after.  By now you might have noticed that the main goal after cleansing is to hydrate the skin as much as possible. Hydrated skin leads to more healthy looking and glowing skin.

Step 6: Serums/ Ampoule

During this phase of the skincare routine this product’s goal is to target specific needs by skin type, such as fine lines, loss of firmness, hyperpigmentation, and dehydration.

Step 7: Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are cloth like sheets that typically have added oils, herbs, and other good chemicals that can benefit your skin. And just like the serums and ampoules certain sheet masks can target specific areas of the skin that need fixing.

Step 8:  Eye Cream

After you apply your sheet mask you will need to take care of your eye area. The skin under the eye area is thinner and more easily dehydrated. It also is a key surface of the face that can make a difference in how your skin looks. Problems like wrinkles and dark circles can make the skin look and you look older, tired, and dull. Applying an eye cream on the regular can stave off these dreaded eye problems.

Step 9: Moisturizer

When you pick your moisturizer it needs to be designed for your skin type. The moisturizer should add a barrier that will lock in all the beneficial ingredients you have applied so they won’t evaporate from out of your skin.

Step 10: Sunscreen

Congrats after all those steps you have finally reached the end of the Korean 10-step skincare routine and it is an important step in the routine, really in any skincare routine. The last thing you should apply to your skin is a SPF or a sunscreen to protect your skin at all times. You will need two differ sunscreens, one for the A.M and one for the P.M. Sunscreen protects your skin from the harmful rays of the Sun and other harsh environmental elements.

How To Do A Shorter Version Of The Korean 10-Step Routine

For some us hard working humans going through that many steps after a long day will be daunting. But recently a shorter and simpler version of this fame routine has been all the rage. Instead of 10 steps you will do 5 steps, The double cleansing, exfoliation or toner (note; you only exfoliate 2 times a week so when you you don’t need to use a toner instead), serum or ampoule, eye cream and moisturizer , and last a SPF sunscreen.
